Prof. Andy Baird (CoI; Co-lead WP2) has worked in peatlands for 30 years and has expertise in peatland ecohydrology, peatland carbon cycling and the modelling of peatland processes. He helped build the DigiBog peatland development model. He has been PI on 4 and Co-I on 2 NERC grants and led a recently-completed £1.1 M UK government (Defra) grant investigating management impacts on C fluxes from blanket peatlands.
