Prof Chris Evans

Prof Chris Evans (co-lead WP1) is a group leader at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Bangor. He leads projects with a total value exceeding £2m for Defra and DECC on peatland GHG fluxes from managed peatlands, ranging from site-based measurements and experiments to national-scale emissions reporting; was a lead author of the IPCC Wetland Supplement to develop international methods for peatland GHG emissions accounting; and provides direct advice to Defra, DECC, the Welsh Government and the UK conservation agencies on sustainable peatland management for climate change mitigation.

 

He holds an honorary professorship from Bangor University, and a visiting position at the Swedish Agricultural University, Uppsala, as King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Visiting Professor in Environmental Sciences for 2015-16. He has published over 110 papers, including 4 in Nature, which have been cited >4500 times.
